Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza’s 2025 season could not have been more perfect. 

He led his Hoosiers to an unblemished 16-0 season, captured the national championship in historic fashion and won the 2025 Heisman before being selected first in the 2026 NFL Draft by the Raiders.

Now that the path is clear for someone new to leave NYC in December holding the Heisman, who will it be?

Miami teammates Darian Mensah and Malachi Toney have made their mark early this season, but Trinidad Chambliss has surged into favoritism after a historic performance against his former coach, Lane Kiffin, and LSU.

Here’s what to know about the 2026 Heisman oddsboard:

Chambliss jumped from +1300 fifth choice to the +300 Heisman favorite after leading Ole Miss to a 32-24 win over No. 7 LSU. He completed 33 of 48 passes for 363 yards and two touchdowns, delivering a signature victory and a potential early-season Heisman moment against his former coach, Lane Kiffin. Chambliss chose to remain in Oxford rather than follow Kiffin to Baton Rouge, and that decision has paid dividends on the early Heisman Trophy oddsboard.

Mensah’s Miami career couldn’t have started much better. He immediately silenced the doubters by throwing for 401 yards and five touchdowns against Stanford in Week 1. In the process, Mensah became just the sixth quarterback since 2000 to complete at least 90% of his passes while throwing for 400 or more yards and five touchdowns in a game. 

He followed that performance by completing 14 of 15 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns in Miami’s 77-7 win over Florida A&M in Week 2. Then, against Wake Forest on Friday night, Mensah completed his first 24 passes, two shy of the record for the most consecutive completions to start a game. 

After his historic start, Mensah’s Heisman odds surged from +1150 to +360, placing him second on the oddsboard behind Chambliss.

Jeremiah Smith opened his junior season with back-to-back 150-yard receiving games. After recording 164 yards against Texas, Smith now has five career games with at least 150 receiving yards, the most by any FBS player since 2024. He also has six career games with 100 or more receiving yards in the first half, another FBS high over that span.

To follow that up in Week 3 against Kent State, Smith’s 85 yards made him Ohio State’s all-time leader in receiving yards. He has jumped to +1000 to win the Heisman, which is third on the oddsboard.

In Week 1, Manning completed 20 of 27 passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns against Texas State before being pulled with the game out of reach.

Then, in Week 2, Manning delivered a potential Heisman moment. His numbers didn’t jump off the page (195 passing yards and one touchdown), but he led Texas back from a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Ohio State. It was the largest fourth-quarter comeback win over an AP No. 1 team in college football history.

Manning and top-ranked Texas wrapped up nonconference play Saturday with a 30-6 win over UTSA. Though it wasn’t a Heisman-caliber showing like he had against Ohio State, Manning finished 16 of 32 for 161 yards and ran for 50 more. He threw two first-half touchdown passes to Cam Coleman, from 24 and three yards out. 

The Longhorns’ defense and a 228-yard rushing day did most of the work as Texas moved to 3-0.

In Week 1, 18-year-old wide receiver Malachi Toney made history, setting Miami’s single-game receiving record with 234 yards and three touchdowns against Stanford. He followed that performance with another 12 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown against Wake Forest. 

Following his remarkable start, Toney’s Heisman odds have skyrocketed from +4000 to +1300, the biggest jump by any player through the first three weeks.
